Daily Driver Guide Tour to Iznik from Istanbul

Daily driver/guide trip to Iznik, with a private English speaking driver/guide, licensed by the ministry. You will be travelling with a sedan type A/C vehicle, with a capacity of max 4 people. You will be visiting the lake of Iznik, St. Sophia Cathedral, Green Mosque and the walls of Byzantine and Ottoman era.


Pick up from your hotel at 07:00 and drive to Iznik  which takes about 4 hours. We will visit Lake of Askania, Iznik (Nicaea) is well-known because the first Ecumenical Council took place here in 325 AD. The centre of the town, still surrounded by Roman and Byzantine walls, is remarkable for the ruins of St. Sophia Temple remaining since those times. In addition to that, an interesting monument is the Green Mosque, decorated by light blue ceramics. St. Sophia Cathedral was the seat of the Second Eucomenical Council in 325 AD and is one of Iznik’s most visited sites. Despite its later conversion into a mosque and fire and earthquake damage, Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan renovated St. Sophia in the 16th century. The Cathedral has beautiful mosaic pavements and frescoes.The ancient City Walls which surround Iznik are relatively well preserved. At lunch we will try delicious Iznik Meatball..There is a lot of shops sell beautiful Iznik ceramics. The last place will be Iznik Archaeological Museum  is also worth a visit. The Museum’s collection includes a historic assortment of tiles and antiques from Roman times. After the tour departing from Iznik at 17:00 and we will drive back to Istanbul. You will be back to your hotel about 21:30.
